An LGBT business lunch, a GOP congressman, covering Pride’s early days Seattle PI
The story proposal was shoved up the ladder in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer newsroom, twice with the question: “Do we really want to be covering this?” My proposal was to “out,” with its agreement, a recently formed LGBT (Q was in the future) business lunch group called The Dorian Group. Its upcoming speaker was Seattle’s moderate Republican U.S. Rep. Joel Pritchard. Editors were antsy back then, in the mid-1970’s, about any news about gays and lesbians and anything doing with gay activism.
